  She could not tell for certain beneath the mask, but Papa V Perpetua’s eyes seemed to twinkle with an unknowable mischief as his smile mirrored Magdalena’s. He rewound the tape, got to his starting position, and the music started again…The melody sounded much sweeter than it had before.
