In a tiny Tokyo apartment, a dead boy's body makes breakfast every morning. The thing inside it chose years ago to be whatever Yoshiki needed. So when he starts pulling away, 'Hikaru' turns to romance movies to learn what he's missing. He's good at learning. This should be easy.

“What would you do if the world was ending?”

Till asked him one night as they were watching an apocalyptic movie together. Ivan pursed his lips at the question, thinking and trying to put himself in the main character’s shoes. When he came up with no particular answer, he turned to Till, who kept watching the movie with his tired eyes from where he was leaning against Ivan. He realized then, that the answer was right next to him since the beginning. Ivan smiled; his voice had an almost cheerful edge when he opened his mouth.

“I don’t know but I’d wanna be next to you.”

    Summary

Was it really so long ago that he’d been on that train—unmoored, adrift in musings of monotony and endless parades of summer?

Years after Yoshiki left Kubitachi, Hikaru Indou’s life has settled into quiet duty: the shiitake farm, the sawmill, the ritual, the god. Days pass like identical pages in a book—until a chance reunion in Tokyo tears the spine apart and lets everything scatter to the wind.
