Once, long ago, he had only one thing for himself, the brightest star in the night sky. It shone deep within his little heart and kept him untouched by the monsters of his nights. But the thing about stars is that they never get enough of shining. They want their brightness to be adored — not just by one person, even if that one person needed their light more than anything, but by anyone who could see.
Eventually, he lost his star when it found its way into the daylight.
