Crowley has never really cried before, not properly, but now the tears spill over. Hot, wet, fat tears pour down his face and he opens his mouth in a silent cry, shocked and embarrassed and horrified. He has nowhere to run. He shuts his eyes and turns his face away again, trying to burrow into the pillow and hide from Aziraphale, who will surely be equally horrified and maybe even disgusted, maybe he’ll want to stop, or realise that Crowley’s too much of a Godforsaken mess to be lovable in the first place. Oh, Satan, what a fucking embarrassment—
“My darling demon,” Aziraphale whispers, and his voice sounds so thick with affection that Crowley has no choice but to pry his eyelids apart and stare up at him.
