Summary
Stevie rolled over and pressed her face into the corner of the couch, pulling a pillow over her head so all of the light in the room was blocked out. She squeezed her eyes tight, ignoring images of sitting next to Eddie to stretch during half time. Of Eddie’s long, slender fingers slowly sliding closer to hers as she turned under the guise of cracking her back. Of Eddie’s pinky linking with hers. Of Eddie smiling at her, curls falling from her ponytail to frame her face.
No, Stevie knew. That was done.
--
Or, Stevie is cut from her university's soccer team before her senior year, causing her to re-evaluate everything in her life, including her budding relationship with her former teammate, Eddie.

Summary
Steve knew it was insane, he did. With everything else going on around them, he could recognize that it was the least of their problems. And, yet, he found himself idly pushing the metal can of ravioli onto its side, rolling it across the table so that the nutrition label was visible, just so. Felt the familiar sinking sensation in his stomach at the thought of eating that many calories, even with the small voice in his head whispering reassurances that the amount of activity they’d been engaging in would more than offset the meal. He pushed the can once more, label curving and disappearing as the metal container rolled off the edge of the table and landed on the sofa cushion with a soft sound.
--
Or, Steve Harrington learns how to re-frame the relationship he has with himself, with food, and with his place in the world as he navigates his newfound feelings for Eddie Munson.

Summary
By the time Max had joined their group, Billy had died, and Eddie had gotten tangled up in the nightmarish reality they had all been dealing with for three years, Steve was basically a live wire of nerves. He attributed his ability to drag Eddie through the Upside Down, save them all by pushing them up into the portal and back down onto Eddie’s stained mattress in his trailer, on the raw frenetic energy pulsing through his body. His heart jackhammered as he grit his teeth to survive every new scenario they were thrown into. Anxiety seeped into adrenaline, into living despite demobat bites, cultish basketball players, and the fiery cracks developing throughout the whole of Hawkins. He survived when he needed to, and made sure the others survived, too.
Now, the same anxiety sits thrumming in his veins, ever present even without the monsters to fight, or need to defend his friends’ life.
---
Or, Steve figures out how to cope with debilitating anxiety through the help of new hobbies, new friends, and one Eddie Munson.

Summary
Steve shrugs, poking at the small purple flower peeking out in early bloom from a knot in the log. Here, in the moonlight, Eddie can almost see what he’d once been. Bright, bright, bright, a ball of fire and hope and potential burning underneath his skin. Behind his eyes. His knuckles brush against the flora once more and there is stardust in the crooks of his fingers, pressed into the folds of his skin.

Or, one night Eddie discovers the shooting star living in the woods behind his trailer, and simultaneously learns what it means to believe in something more than a dead-end future.
