A-Qing wrapped one hand around the snow-white hilt; daozhang waited to feel her grip tighten before letting go. He shifted the weight of the man on his back and headed back towards the road. She followed, but stopped when her foot nudged something on the ground. A sword, covered in blood and dirt. As she bent down to take a closer look, she thought she felt daozhang’s white sword twitch in her grasp. No, it’s just heavy, and my grip is slipping. She tightened her hand on the white sword, grabbed the one on the ground, and followed daozhang to whatever city was at the end of the road.
