Summary
After the destruction of Vulcan, many members of the endangered species are left without bondmates. To prevent any further unnecessary deaths, a program is set up to match volunteers with Vulcans entering pon farr alone.
It’s a simple contract: complete a mental compatibility exam, and when a Vulcan enters pon farr with a high enough compatibility score, you drop everything to spend a night on New Vulcan, then go your separate ways. There are definitely no weird ancient bonds in play that can get you accidentally-Vulcan-married to that person.

Summary
It was a funny story, how James T. Kirk became a prostitute on Vulcan. Not that any Vulcan ever asked how a farm-raised Terran ended up in a very selective line of work. His clients, predictably, weren’t much for pillow talk.
In a slightly better universe there are resources and trained, licensed professionals to handle tricky situations like a single Vulcan in Starfleet going through his first pon farr. Jim is the only man for the job.

Essentially a creative porn without plot story, unless the plot revolves around porn.
