Three months of shared scenes and early mornings and Yao Guang’s terrifyingly intimate notes on eye contact. If Kafka gets this role, Himeko will have to stand across from her every single day and pretend that the last five years did not leave a strange little bruise somewhere beneath her ribs.
or, they're actresses, Kafka reemerges after five years of radio silence, and Himeko wonders what the hell she did to deserve this.

Ch3: Like carefully adding sticks and turning over the logs in a hearth, Yang’s physical marks of care had done nothing but continue the burning of Blake’s heart. So many times, Blake should have told Yang to stop. So many times, the pain never out-seared the comfort and warmth.
---Love is selfless. It's patient. Faithful. It settles in the heart and fills the veins with calm certainty.
Blake should have moved on a long time ago.
But then the truth comes out, and Yang promises to try reciprocating Blake's feelings. She thinks she can, probably. Except being a huntress is fraught with danger and loss.
And sometimes keeping promises is secondary to keeping it together.
Barely.
