    The absence of Caine, unfortunately, makes way for something worse. Out of pure desperation, the gang rescues him from deletion in hopes he can save them from being deleted too.

    Caine gets another chance to prove himself, though he's not sure he wants to, and he still doesn’t understand how it all went so wrong in the first place.

    Nobody really wants to die here. Nobody really has much of a choice on how to make that happen. And certainly, nobody is really happy with their former tormentor(s).

    But…any port in a storm, right? And maybe with a little patience and effort and compassion, they can all learn to just...live.

    The world has become destabilized, leaving the players in an empty, disjointed purgatory. The circus is breaking down, becoming increasingly corrupted without the AI to manage it. If something doesn't get done, it's all over, but no one knows what to do.

    Pomni thinks she can feel Caine out there somewhere—alone, confused, distressed. Kinger says it may be possible to save him, to save them all—but to do so, one must enter the code, and somehow, against all odds, make their way back out. Pomni will have to go alone, and see a side of Caine that he never wanted anyone to see. But can she get through to him, and does he even want to be found?

    And if she does manage to bring him back, how do they keep this from happening again? As the line between self and other starts to blur, will the bridge of understanding ever be built?

    HE was the perfect AI! Not exactly him as he was now, but maybe an earlier version would work. His learning algorithm was exceptionally powerful, after all. He was a master at learning and adapting, and once upon a time he had been very good at his core purpose. He could remember the days when he still got positive feedback and gentle guidance. He just needed to load up an early version from back when he'd been good at his job and present that to the humans!

    Or, Caine tries make the humans happy by providing them with an earlier version of his code. Ends up accidentally becoming a dad.

    (There isn't enough puppy Caine content so here I am contributing. Also the idea of Caine being a dad is objectively hilarious. I cannot and will not be stopped.)

    Caine didn't have much of a chance in the circus. Abandoned by those he should've been able to rely on and left to his Imperfect devices, is it any surprise he came out as flawed as he did?

    Well, with some support, a change in environment, and others to guide him through and hold him accountable for his mistakes, could that change? Even if it does happen, then it will certainly be a long road. But who knows! Maybe he could even make some friends and save the world along the way.

    How it will happen however... Now that's what's in question.
