Summary
“Uh- wow- you look great man, where are you headed?” Buck asks, vocally and probably visibly flustered. Eddie sidesteps him and walks further into his loft, ignoring Buck.
Buck shuts the door and turns to look at him once more, trying to sear the image of him in a suit into his brain.
“I am going on a date.” Eddie finally speaks, a happy and vaguely smug grin on his lips. Buck tilts his head in confusion, as he feels his heart sink.
“Oh… that’s cool, you look great.” He repeats dumbly. “Who’s the lucky lady?” Buck asks reluctantly.
“You.”

Summary
His body grows tense under Eddie’s hands, as he heaves out a sigh, “…I can’t stand Marisol. Which makes me feel terrible because she’s nice and beautiful and just overall perfect-“
Eddie cuts him off, his eyebrows furrowing in complete confusion, “What does Marisol have to do with this?” He asks, his grip still secure on Buck’s shoulders, no matter how hard the blonde tries to shake him.
“God- She’s- I can’t- Ugh!” Buck exclaims, unable to articulate properly due to the emotions racing through him.
“Buck,” Eddie begins placatingly, “what’s been going on with you? You’ve been distant, and now you’re angry with me and… Marisol?” He says the last part as a question which makes Buck huff bitterly.
“I’m not ‘angry’ with you or her- I’m in love with you!”
(or, buck is avoiding eddie.)

“You want to help me pick out a new couch?” He asks, now this question would seem mundane and possibly boring to an outsider, but Eddie knows. He knows exactly what Buck is truly asking.
And so, with a fond smile, he nods, “Yeah.”

“Pythagorean's are actually the ones who coined the term ‘mathematics’,” He rambles when suddenly Eddie’s calloused hand is cupping his face, his thumb brushing Buck’s cheek as Eddie stares at him with an intense focus.
Buck stops talking- stops breathing -for fear of ruining this moment.
Then Eddie pulls back, clearing his throat, “You- uh- had an eyelash.” The older man says, his ears going a little pink.

“You’re okay, baby. You’re safe.” Buck repeats again and again into his hair.
Eddie continues to cry, continues to play over in his head everything that’s happened, every failure he’d suffered through, every event that’s broken him down into what he is.
“I’ve got you, I promise, sweetheart.”
