Day 3: Flowers
“I promise you. I promise I’ll come back.”
He promises, George thinks wistfully. He promises such a thing- to offer George with his word on something, to uphold it. It’s as if he’s saying that he’ll give the world to him, just for him. But somewhere is the lingering thought in George's mind is that he won't come back. That the cruel war that had riddled their land will take him too, and he will be left aching and worry-worn. George shivers at the thought. Of a life without him.
“You promise?"
That you’ll come home to me?
And as if he heard those unspoken words. Dream beams at him.
“I promise. You won’t even notice that I was gone, my love.”
George lets out a wet and broken laugh at the overly romantic pet name that he associates with his beloved. Dream does so too, before pulling him back into his embrace.
They stay there for a bit. The war can wait.
“I promise I’ll be waiting.”
(or, the war au with letters and oscar wilde quotes.)

Summary
Ritsu Kageyama's life wasn't exactly ideal, but it wasn't terrible either. He was fine with his day to day routine of taking care of his brother, going to work, and then sleeping for a few short hours before starting all over again.
But then, some fiery headed stranger decides to crawl through his window and knock his world off of its axis.
(Somewhat of a Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency AU. You don't need to have seen Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency to understand and enjoy this fic, but it's definitely a show I recommend. It's wonderful.)

“You need to,” he tells Teru again, in his tiny yellow kitchen. “Please help me. Please just, just do whatever you did to break your side of the curse. Break mine too. And then we can never talk about any of this again. Please,” Ritsu forces out again, when Teru says nothing, only listens, watching him with that same mild, sociable interest. “Before it gets worse. Before anything… happens.”
“What’s in it for me?” asks Teru.
(Opportunities for psychic self-improvement can be found anywhere, if you're looking. Ritsu isn't, but Teru's far too selfless to let that stop him.)
