Sydney closes her eyes at the feeling of his hand on her, small smile gracing her face as she sighs contentedly, "c'mon, say hi to daddy, bear." She taps her fingers against her skin, waiting for the kicking that will surely start up again. She can feel some small shifting within her so she knows their baby is still awake. A short while later, Carmy feels a push against his palm, and an excited hum leaves him at the feeling.

Sydney laughs, rubbing the top of her head. “Yeah, just my luck to get a concussion the first time we kiss.”
Carmy chuckles, gently cradles her face between his palms. “Maybe we should stop having important conversations while we’re under tables.”
“Yeah,” she agrees happily. “Maybe we should.”

Summary
Sydney should be happy. She married the man of her dreams, lives in a beautiful mansion in the suburbs of Chicago and shops all day. She should be happy except her husband doesn’t talk her these days, she spends too much time with her battery operated friends and she’s oh so lonely and unhappy. She wants a divorce. There is just one problem, you don’t divorce one of the heads of the Italian mafia, unless you want to lose that head. So Sydney came up with a foolproof plan, run away. Except it not so foolproof when her dismissive and estranged husband decides he will burn down the world to get her back. Now they are stuck in a dark and seductive cat and mouse game. Only Sydney’s not sure if she is the mouse or cat.
