This was written using the prompt/trope "Keeping warm at all costs" for my very dear friend and beta reader, upallnight.
It’s during training era (RE4R timeline), and they’re on a grueling ruck march across a desert in northern Washington (the Columbia Basin). They’ve already got chemistry roiling under the surface – Krauser is working him hard, and he’s fiery on the training grounds but kind of cold to Leon otherwise. Leon is kind of falling hard for him, but he doesn’t know how to approach it, because he’s not sure there’s any chance Krauser will feel the same way. But the Columbia Basin gets real cold at night…
