Summary

____Sliding down the wall, Shane hunched over his untied sneakers, shoved on hastily when Coach had called him in for a meeting after morning skate.
“Boston wanted you specifically. I’ve already spoken to their GM. You’re flying this evening or tomorrow morning: I’ll confirm once the paperwork clears.”
“Mom,” Shane managed.
“Oh sweetie. I know, okay. Those fuckers, how dare they do this! Two fucking cups! Now all of a sudden they decide they want a reset and you’re going to fund it.”
Shane put his head between his knees and tried to breathe. God, Boston. They hated him there; it was so far away; he was fucking their captain.

Summary
They haven’t spoken since Shane ran away. Or more aptly, jumped up and then shuffled away because he couldn’t handle the sound of his own name crawling past Ilya’s red, bitten lips. That one syllable made his head swim, made his stomach feel like he had just dropped from the top of a rollercoaster hill down to the bottom without a seatbelt. That one syllable that damned him into the knowledge that yes, he was head over heels in love with Ilya Rozanov, and no, he couldn’t do anything about it.
So he left, didn’t speak to Rozanov for months, found a beautiful girl, and got engaged to her.
And they still haven’t spoken. Once again, Shane thinks that for a normal, good man and future husband, the idea of texting a rival and now teammate shouldn’t cause a migraine strong enough to blur his vision.
a.k.a Rose never confronts Shane, leading to them getting engaged. Too bad Shane Hollander has never been able to resist Ilya Rozanov in all the time that they've known each other, and doesn't plan on starting now.
