Tobirama’s eyes narrowed a fraction. ‘I’m aware.’
‘But I’m going to marry you anyway.’ He was already far too gone on this idea to back off now.
After a long moment of silence passed, Tobirama heaved a defeated sigh. ‘Fine.’ His eyes fluttered shut as if he was holding back tears.
‘Good.’ Madara couldn’t resist the urge to put an index finger under his tattooed chin to lift his head up. Running his thumb over the red mark on Tobirama’s cheek, he could feel the other man shudder, barely restraining himself not to recoil from the touch. ‘I’m going to make you the happiest man in the world.’ If that was a promise or a threat, even he didn’t truly know.

Tobirama chuckled too. The pain inside didn’t disappear. But something in him felt lighter.
