What if Schmidt hadn't invested in Ally's storefront, and as a result never had to move back into Apartment 4D? With Jess getting her old room back, Nick and Jess have the space to process their feelings, even when they're fighting over Mars Landing and child-raising techniques. No break up, but even so, things can't just go back to when they were easy, not without some work on both ends.
Season 3 AU, where I rewrite the last 4 episodes into something I can actually tolerate.
