“I saw my string today,” he whispered.
Matthew’s eyes widened. “Seriously? That’s amazing—wait.” He watched Gyuvin’s face carefully. “You don’t look happy.”
“I’m not.” Gyuvin’s voice cracked. “It’s Hanbin.”
The silence that followed felt suffocating.
“Oh,” Matthew said softly.
Gyuvin laughed bitterly, wiping at his face. “What the hell am I supposed to do with that?”
Matthew sat beside him on the bed. “Does he know?”
“No. I didn’t tell him. I can’t. He’s with Hao. They’re happy. If I say anything…” He swallowed hard. “I don’t want to ruin everything. I don’t want to ruin us.”

“Oh—Hanbin! You didn’t hear?” Minseo, one of the newer hires, grins at him like she’s dying to spill the tea. “The CEO’s son is coming back. Apparently, he’s done with his program in the U.S. and he’s going to be overseeing our department.”
Hanbin stares. “What?”
“Yeah. Like, directly,” one of the others chimes in. “They said he’s going to be shadowing our team, getting hands-on experience. Something about understanding the company from the ground up.”
“Our team?” Hanbin echoes.-
Because standing in front of the department, with that same easy smile and posture just shy of cocky, is him.
The boy from the bar.
Hanbin’s eyes widen. His mouth parts just slightly in disbelief. It’s the same face, same tousled hair, same impossibly pretty features that should be on a magazine cover, not in an office full of exhausted twenty-somethings barely hanging on.
The guy with the scoff and the smirk. The guy who called him small and mysterious in the same breath.
“Hello everyone,” Gyuvin begins, his voice smooth and bright. “My name is Kim Gyuvin and I’ll be overseeing this department.”
