Summary

“I can’t go to Europe,” Mike says, like ripping off a bandaid.
Richie momentarily considers dropping his phone in the tub to kill it, and then he remembers that it is 2017 and phones are like, waterproof now. Steve Jobs might be dead, but Richie curses him regardless.
“What the fuck, man?” he says, a little too high pitched. “Is it you Bill is divorcing? Are you his lawyer? How are these two related in any way? You can’t just—”
“Bill needs me, Richie.” Mike’s voice is gentle but firm, like that makes any sense.
“Dude, what am I going to do for 3 months? I’ve got no gigs coming up, no media appearances. Everything's on hold.”
A pause. Then Mike says, “What are you talking about, man? Eddie is still going.”

Richie fiddles with the zipper of his jacket for lack of a better thing to do with his hands and asks, "So you're coming?"
"If Hayworth lets me go."
"If Hayworth lets you go."
"It'll be good to see everyone," Eddie says softly.
It'll be good to see you, Richie hears.
"Yeah, man." He swallows. "It's been a while."

“No,” Eddie says quietly, and he settles his arm more firmly around Richie. “This was the most impulsive thing I’ve ever done. I couldn’t think about it at all. I didn’t even—I mean, I wasn’t even planning to come over here that day. I thought I would go to a bar, get smashed, spend the evening alone.”
“That’s depressing as fuck, man. Seriously?”
“Yeah.”
“What changed?”
“I got out of my lawyer’s office,” Eddie says, quiet. “Freely divorced and completely fucking alone. And—everything around me was in motion. Pigeons, you know, flying up to perch on the buildings. Taxis going fast. This girl ran past me, and her hair was whipping around with every step. And I just thought—God, am I going to go sit on a barstool? Is that it?”
“Eddie,” Richie says, because he needs to say something.
“We moved so much as kids,” Eddie continues. “If the quarry was in front of me I would have fucking jumped, suit and all. I kept thinking about that. I wanted to feel like that.” He presses his face against Richie’s spine again. “So I came here.”

Summary
When Eddie died, everything had clicked into place. For once, he'd been brave enough. For a moment, Richie had gotten to hold him.
Now Eddie's back. Some mysterious force has lifted him out of the ground and set him back on his feet, and he's going to have to learn to walk on his own for once. Meanwhile, Richie is still mourning, because he's always known better than to hope.
Also featuring: the turtle's attempts at therapy, an ill-advised stint as a telephone operator, the most awkward coming out in history, the Lumberjacks Olympic Pine-a-Thon, and some George Romero shit.
