Summary
The drywall in Buck’s new apartment was more fragile than he thought it would be.
His fist went through it easily, catching and scraping the skin of his hand with a pricking shock of pain that wasn’t nearly enough to ground him. There was a joke there, somewhere, about places not being built like they used to be, but instead, jaw clenched, he reeled back and switched direction, slamming the flat of his palm against his fridge hard enough to send a more satisfying ripple up his arm, jarring his shoulder. Gasping, he let himself tilt forward until his forehead pressed into the cool metal of his freezer door.
Breathe, he tried to tell himself. Get a fucking grip, Buckley. But the voice sounded like his father’s, and his mind skittered around it.or, in seperate ways, Buck and Eddie don't react well to the realization

Summary
“Are you upset that we came back, or something? I told you that we’d find a different place if you—”
“Stop, Eddie. No, of course not. That’s not the—it’s fine. Really.” Buck pulled in a deep breath, shaking his head. “It’s time for me to find my own place. It’s a good thing.” He leaned forward to grab their beers from the coffee table, passing Eddie his. “Sorry for snapping at you. It’s just been a long day.”
Eddie nodded, swallowing hard, the animal in his chest retreating a little. “Yeah. Me too.”
“Anyway, I’ve got a promising tour tomorrow,” Buck continued, voice carefully neutral. “A friend of Maddie’s from nursing school has a brother who’s moving out, so. We’ll see. He’s about our age, elementary teacher or something, so the place can’t be that expensive.” Buck shrugged. “Got a pretty good feeling about it.”
“That’s good,” Eddie said, though the next sip of his beer tasted bitter on his tongue.or, post 8x18, buck finds a boyfriend, an apartment, and eddie loses his mind about it

Summary
Porch creaking under his bare feet, Buck rounded the corner of the house. “Eddie, what the hell are you—?”
He stopped in his tracks.
Eddie was swaying on his feet, facing the side of the house, silhouetted by the streetlights, staring at his bloody knuckles.an 8x17 coda

Summary
Pins and needles swept down Eddie's arms and through the tips of his fingers in a flush of heat, then cold.
Breath suddenly coming fast, he shook out his hands, starting to turn away, but not before Buck caught his shoulder, concerned.
“Eddie, are you okay? You’re shaking.”
Eddie looked down at himself. He was. Pretty violently, actually.
“Huh. Yeah,” Eddie pulled in a breath, clenching his hands and releasing them, “must be banked adrenaline. I…I really thought I’d have to carry you out of here.” His throat tightened around the words. There was a buzzing in his ears.
Panic, he realized, delayed panic.or, an 8x18 earthquake spec fic because I want Buck under!that!concrete!

Summary
“Do you guys think I’m in love with Eddie?”
Hen and Chim froze—Hen’s hand tightened around the pack of gauze she held, crinkling the plastic, and the syringe Chim had been holding slipped from his fingers and rolled across the floor.
There was a moment of stunned silence between the three of them, before Hen broke it with an amused, “Good morning to you too, Buck.”or, a 5+1 fic of post-"Holy Mother of God" conversations, because it’s way more fun to imagine Buck not letting this go.

Summary
“I went out drinking with Ravi, and he found Tommy at the bar, I guess. Then out of nowhere Ravi was leaving, and Tommy sat down with me, and one thing sorta led to another and... and, he, uh. You know. Spent the night.”
Pulse rabbiting in his ears, Eddie’s jaw ticks. “He spent the night.”
“Yeah, but that wasn’t even the problem, really,” Buck says, exasperated. “Eddie—he told me that he dumped me because of you.”
The tune in his ears shifts from rushing blood straight to television static. “He what?”

Summary
"You used to call me," Buck says. He takes a breath. His eyes are burning, and Eddie is just staring at him, in the locker room, in the firehouse, which is the only place they're ever alone anymore, except that they're not, not really. Anyone could walk in. "Two years ago you wouldn't even think twice."

Summary
He realizes, then, that it's the first time they've been in close proximity since Buck discovered he was in love with him. Since he fucked someone in Eddie's bed, on Eddie's bedsheets, the ones that smelled like Eddie, and moaned Eddie's name while he came.
Guilt courses through him, but it's met with a humiliating rush of shame and desire and pure, red-hot want. His wires are all crossed. He's missed Eddie so much. He's pissed at him, for dropping by unannounced and acting like Buck is the one at fault here. He's so, so fucking in love with him. He wants to fuck him so bad it kind of feels like the world is falling apart.
Or, Eddie goes to Texas. Buck handles it incredibly well.
