Summary
Taako needed some extra cash, and tutoring was a pretty low stress job that fit his schedule. It wasn't even hard, he just met with a kid a couple times a week and helped with their homework and whatever. It was a pretty good job, and the kid he landed with wasn't half bad. Taako didn't like kids, but he guessed Agnes or Angus or whatever was alright.
He didn't plan on getting attached to the job though. Or to Angus.

Summary
Soulmates have empathic and physical connections, a person can feel the feelings and pain of their other half.
Todd knows his soulmate has had a rough time, what with the electric shocks, and what he thinks is being locked up somewhere, and once Todd meets Dirk he knows they'll fall in love, but Todd just knows he'll screw it up somehow. It's not like he has the best track record with the people he loves.

A bright outfit that clung just right to the person who wore it. With that thought, an intense rush of adrenaline shot through Todd’s system, and his eyes flew open.

He would rather have been kissing Dirk.
Season 2 AU that’s not exactly an AU.
While on the run with Farah, Todd realizes he has feelings for Dirk. Meanwhile, Dirk is in Blackwing, thinking about Todd every waking minute. Once reunited, they begin to act on their feelings. Cue season-long butterfly effect.

The only thing Dirk Gently has ever learned to do with his trauma, is shove it down as deep as it will go, lock it away, and hope that ignoring it means it isn't really there. For a while at least, it works. But when the past comes knocking looking to make amends, and pretending that none of it was as bad as it seemed isn't an option anymore, the delicate balancing act he's been practicing for years finally tips over the edge.Healing is painful, recovery isn't linear, sometimes you have to tear everything down before you can start to rebuild.
His own demons might be the scariest thing he's ever had to face, but it's not something he has to do alone, and in the end that makes all the difference.
