Jisung leans over the table again, utterly transfixed. “You’re killing me. Just spill already!”
“Fine,” Hyunjin humphes and tilts up his chin. “I was going to ask if you wanted to go with me.”
For a horrible, terrible second, the shop seems to go silent. Hyunjin can distinctly hear the growl of the machines grinding coffee beans, the baristas’ shuffling feet and the chair legs scraping across the floor. He sucks in another breath and holds Jisung’s wide-eyed stare before adding, “As friends.”
or: With the university's end of semester Arts Exhibition right around the corner, Hyunjin (and his friends) scramble to find dates for the banquet afterwards—a banquet no one expected. Baker! Jisung is surprised when two children wanders into his bakery on their own, claiming their father will come shortly. So when he talks with them, he doesn’t expect to be held at gun point moments later by the infamous Mafia Leader who’s their father.
Or, Jisung is sweet, Hyunjin is bitter. They didn't expect to fall in love with someone who's the complete opposite.
