"Would you like me to tell your fortune?" Eiji blurts. He wants to. He wants to know more about Ash Lynx. "The first time is free for new customers. All I need to do is touch you—your hand. I can see your past, and some of your future. I'll tell you—anything you want to know."
Ash smiles. "I don't believe in magic."
That catches Eiji off guard. Ash ... doesn't believe in magic? Sure, people who can actually use magic are rather rare, but ... everyone knows they exist.
He's lying, Eiji realizes. He's not certain, but that explanation feels right. Ash believes. He's just ... afraid, for some reason.
And the feeling that Eiji has, pulling him to Ash—it grows, and grows, and grows.
Eiji is a fortuneteller, and his instincts—or his magic abilities—keep drawing him to his new university roommate. It's destiny; he knows it. Ash, on the other hand, is a total skeptic who thinks magic is all smoke and mirrors. Or, that's what he says, anyway ...
