    Bookmarker's Notes

This work is a plagiarization of my fic “A New Mission”: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27664403

    Plagiarized concepts:

-Time swap in which adult Kanan and Hera find a baby Ezra
-Ephraim and Mira Bridger dead in their home, shot in the head "execution style"
-Kanan drawn by the Force to Ezra
-Baby Ezra concealed in a hidden alcove
-Kanan and Hera trying to talk themselves out of keeping Ezra
-Kanan and Hera keep Ezra anyway

I politely reached out to the author—who had kudosed my fic a few days before posting this one but left no comment—but instead of a response, they immediately orphaned the work. With no other choice, I reported the work. Unfortunately, AO3 deemed that it didn't qualify enough as plagiarism to warrant removal, which is why it remains up to this day.

    Plagiarized text:

New Mission (my fic): Hera peers into the box and pulls back the silvery heat-proof blanket covering the wriggling bundle. A baby’s face comes into view, red and twisted.

New Song (this fic): Hera ducks down to her knees, sticking hesitant hands into the crate. She pulls back the fabric of the blankets to reveal the small face of a human babe.

    ---------------------------------------------

New Mission: “There was a name hanging on the wall of the nursery. Ezra.”

    “Ezra,” Hera repeats.

New Song: Inscribed on the wooden cradle was a single word, a name.

    “Ezra.” Hera breathes.

    ---------------------------------------------

New Mission: “I know. This makes things a lot more complicated.” He sighs heavily and gives her a defeated look.

New Song: He sighs, not taking his eyes off the baby. “I know, Hera. Things just became a lot more complicated for us.”

    ---------------------------------------------

New Mission: “Kanan, we can’t take care of a baby,” Hera says. “We’re insurgents. Our life is unpredictable, hazardous even.”

New Song: “We can't take care of a baby.” He says with a pained look on his face. “I know we can't leave him here, but what do we do after? We’re insurgents too, constantly on the run.”

    ---------------------------------------------

New Mission: “There’s no place where he’ll be safe, is there?” Hera finally says.

New Song: “There will never be a safe enough place for him to be. Not in the middle of the war.”

    ---------------------------------------------

New Mission: She had never been so simultaneously worried and happy in all her life. Maybe this is how all new parents feel.

New song: A feeling settles in her stomach, a mix of fear and awe and affection. Maybe that's how parents feel.
