Summary
Fushiguro Megumi realised he was in love with Gojou Satoru. He also realised nothing would ever come of it. Entwined as their lives always had been, Megumi was glad to have Gojou in his life at any capacity. Then the fates smiled on him or spat in his face, he couldn’t decide, but Gojou and him were somehow forced irrevocably together and Megumi couldn’t believe his luck. Some days he thought they were finally moving towards more, some days he thought he saw a flicker in Gojou’s eyes that could even be the beginnings of love. Other days he was cruelly reminded of how little he actually knew the man.
Gojou had secrets, so many secrets. Had already experienced an entire lifetime before he’d even met Megumi. An existence where he had lost the love of his life as everyone insisted on reminding him every chance they got.
But if the past continues to haunt you, is it even lost? Can you ever lose someone you love without also losing yourself? If we resign ourselves to the fates, do the fates in turn also resign to us?

In the coastal town of Rhu, 1988, the locals find themselves in the grips of a serial killer with a sick sense of humour. With more and more bodies piling up in increasingly gruesome scenes and the community becoming more and more desperate, the police investigation comes under immense pressure to pinpoint a suspect.
Meanwhile, university dropout Kim Taehyung begins to question his own sanity, when his sadistic, childhood tormentors push him further and further towards his extremity. Isolated and tortured, Taehyung finds himself turning to one of the darkest areas of Rhu for a twisted form of comfort.
