Dennis watches as the rest of them peel off into the same predictable behaviours as any other night. Mac roping Frank into going with him to The Rainbow, Charlie heading to the back office to stick his head in a can of paint thinner. And Dee, already passed out on one of the barstools with her face squashed against the bar.
Today, a woman that used to work at their old high school library died. Or, not died; it was suicide. She killed herself, at just over 70 years old. Dee had sent Dennis the article earlier, accompanied by a message that read: 'The hag is dead!'
Dennis' first thought was that the hag got off easy. His second, fuelled by mild irritation, that Dee was an idiot for thinking this woman's death would mean anything to him.

Summary
"As his friends wander over to solidify their places at Reki's side, Langa finds his feet carrying him elsewhere, out through the factory doors and into the open air where it's a little easier to breathe again. The tail of his board drags carelessly through the dirt as he goes, and he begins to aimlessly lead himself as far away from the noise of the crowd as possible.
His body still burns hot with adrenaline, the tips of his fingers twitching like live-wires, yet his mind is blank and devoid of any familiar joy or excitement that he might've once felt in the past whenever Reki rode alongside him.
He should be happy that Reki beat him – beyond happy, even – but he's not.
He's not happy at all."
