Summary
But it wasn’t a monster that came out of the trees. It was a person. A boy.
Mike froze.
Then he was spotted, and the boy stopped in his tracks; with skillful movements, he quickly slung the rifle off his shoulder and pointed it at Mike’s chest. Mike raised his hands while trying to keep most of his weight on his left leg.
“Whoa. Hey,” Mike said, his eyes wide as he stared at the tip of the rifle. “Just hold on. I’m not—I’m not going to hurt you.”
Or: A crawl gone wrong left Mike stranded in the Upside Down. Hurt and alone, Mike stumbles upon someone everyone told him was dead.

Summary
To the crowds at the Battle of the Bands, Mike Wheeler is "The Villain"—the chaotic, arrogant frontman of The Party, willing to burn the world down for a moment in the spotlight.
To Will Byers, he’s just Mike. The boy who needs a roadie to tune his guitar, tape his cables, and keep him from shattering.
Will has always been content to stand in the shadows, the silent architect of Mike’s success. But when the pressure to win pushes Mike into a spiral of ego and internalized fear, Will makes a choice to step into the light—behind a mask.
As the mysterious "Echo," Will finds the voice he’s denied himself for years. But as Mike becomes obsessed with this new musical rival—falling in love with the sound of his own best friend without realizing it—the line between performance and reality begins to blur.
In a town defined by noise, the quietest truths are the most dangerous. And when Will tries to choose a "safe" life to escape the fire, Mike will have to decide if he’s the hero of this story, or the monster who keeps the other monsters away.

Summary
Dustin hums in agreement while he swallows his bite. “It’s like, against his factory settings to say no to you. What do you need him to do, model for you or something?”
Will shoves his face back into his hands. “I’m going to fail.”
Max rolls her eyes. “You’re not going to fail, you’re going to paint Mike.”
Will lifts his head up from his hands, eyes wide, and shakes his head. “You don’t understand.” He pleads with his awful, awful friends, voice low. “He’s been, he’s using my-he came out of my bathroom in just a towel last night.”
Studio art major Will Byers has a study of the human body due before the semester ends, is in desperate need for a model, and has a huge, life-altering, heart wrenching crush on his best friend.
Enter: Mike Wheeler, his broken shower, and his collection of plaid-print boxers.

Summary
They were finally free. The sky had returned to its natural blue, the ground closed up, and the fog of black smoke no longer hung over Hawkins. Mike had to keep reminding himself of that fact. Everything was perfect.
Maybe too perfect.
OR
Post season 5 fix-it, where everyone was Vecna'ed and the world did "end," and now they have to figure out how to get back home. But the way to get home might suck more than if they were to stay in the messed up, distorted version of Hawkins. At least for Mike.

Summary
"It's not just anything." Mike turned to look at him, and they were suddenly very close, close enough that Will could see the darker flecks in Mike's eyes, could count his freckles if he wanted to. "You're incredible. You know that, right?"
Will couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. Could only stare at Mike's face inches from his own and try to remember why leaning forward would be a terrible idea.
Mike's eyes dropped to Will's mouth for just a second. Maybe it wasn't so terrible of an idea. It would be so easy... to reach out and touch.
Then Mike was pulling back, clearing his throat, looking flustered. "Anyway. Um. Should we-"
What happened in those 18 months in the Wheeler house between S4 and S5 that made Will so hopeful... or, as the kids call it, MWTFDYD Gate.
