Summary
"Today is… is weird day.” Another pause, long enough to make Shane wonder if he should speak this time, but Ilya continues eventually. “Is anniversary of mama's death.”
"Oh, Ilya,” he says now, the words coming out soft and hesitant. “I didn't know, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" He grimaces, really wishing he was better at this. "Sorry, stupid question."
It draws a chuckle from Ilya, the familiar sound immediately making warmth spread in his chest.
