Summary
For 1st year med student Dazai Osamu, excellence isn’t a goal — it’s a requirement for being allowed to exist. Raised by his father Mori, Dazai has learned that anything below 100% is failure, freetime is indulgence, and parental affection is something one has to earn. Trying to uphold these impossible standards, he gets confronted with how coping mechanisms meant to maintain control can lead to losing it.
Enter Chuuya Nakahara: sports science major, easygoing, backed by a supportive family, and the last person Dazai wants as a roommate. As their contrasting worlds collide and the pressure on Dazai keeps building he is forced to ask himself: is the price of excellence really worth it?
At 15 he brought back a 97 on a test.
"What did you miss?" was all Mori asked.
"One question,"
"And why did you miss it?"
"I misunderstood—"
"You didn't prepare properly," Mori cut him off. "Careless. Do you want to be a doctor responsible for patients dying because of such mistakes?"
"No, sir."
"Then do better."That night, Dazai stayed up late, re-reading his textbook until the words blurred together, fueled by fear of what would happen if he made another mistake.

Surely they don’t have mixed gender student accommodation at Todai. It doesn’t seem that progressive here.
“Hey.” The person says, and Dazai realises they are addressing him. Because he’s the only one in the room. “You must be Dazai, I’m Nakahara Chuuya. But please, for the love of God, just call me Chuuya.”
Definitely not a girl.

“No, no,” Childe hisses frantically. He glances down at his trembling hands and— sickly violet twists around his forearms like an ugly vine. Whatever this affliction is, it's interfering with his abyssal energy.
There’s no time to fret over it. Though numb panic sears through his nerves, Childe forces himself into motion, keeping his exhausted body moving through the next wave of attacks. Now aware of it, Childe can sense the corruption within him. It whispers in the back of his mind, it seeps into his bloodstream, it makes his limbs heavy as lead. Pure spite keeps him from succumbing.
Abruptly, the entity before him pulls out a lantern. Childe feels a gravitational shift as it begins to glow. Around him, the Wild Hunt summons begin to writhe. One by one they dissipate into fodder for the flames, the lantern growing ever and ever brighter. With resignation, too tired to move, Childe braces himself for the blow. The concentration of bright light peaks, and even behind closed eyes Childe can see the flare of it —

It was a real surprise to see Childe at the door with a duffel on his shoulder, red hair drenched and clinging to his face. The rain and the scent of his tea had obscured Childe's musk-- something Zhongli had known well since they had met. Salt, seafoam, crisp ocean air carried on the breeze… it was nice. But Childe was also an alpha, and an extremely aggressive one at that, which made the two incompatible.
It should have, anyway. Zhongli still had a semblance of feelings for the harbinger but those were buried deep, deep down. He had plenty to work through with what Childe had done, what the Fatui had done, and they shouldn't be friends.
Yet... here they were.
