Summary
Nat takes a chance to look around again, distracted by the thought of the missing Spider-woman in the space. Did she just up and leave while Nat’s suspended up here and, ugh, technically helpless?
Nothing looks remarkably red and blue from where she hangs, and Nat’s about to accept her fate now—dead at eighteen, Rutgers freshman, soccer playing time of zero—when she feels someone else’s touch wrap around her limbs, and thank God it’s not another slimy tentacle.
Nat starts seeing New Jersey's Spider-woman a little too many more times than she'd like.

Summary
“Oh, fine.” Natalie replied. “A little warm for fur, isn’t it?”
“It’s faux. Don’t get any ideas about red paint.”
“Hm. Okay.” Natalie nodded, then sucked in a breath. “So, you’re a lesbian, though?”
Lottie straightened and shut the fridge door, then turned back to Natalie. She had a bottle of water in her hand. “Don’t be reductive, Nat, I could be bisexual.”
“…are you bisexual?”
Lottie looked at her like she was stupid. “No, I’m a lesbian.”

Summary
“You know that song, that’s like ‘you’ve got a fast car, I want a ticket to anywhere, maybe we can make a deal?” Jackie says quietly when Nat returns to the porch.
“You mean the song called: Fast Car?” Nat follows her gaze to the truck. The last piece of her old man, and the only one really worth keeping.
She returns to look at Jackie, noticing the gym bag stuffed with clothes and cash.
“You’re not serious,” Nat scoffs with a laugh.
“Look, I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel and die in fucking Wiskayok, New Jersey.”--
Follows roughly 10 years of one Natalie Scatorccio and one Jacqueline Taylor cohabitating in a Chelsea apartment while they learn how to be adults.

Summary
Lottie and Nat never really talked in school, nothing beyond polite exchanges during soccer practice.
Lottie seems untouchable, polite, popular, and beautiful. But beneath the perfection she was raised to hide every crack, taught that love is conditional and appearances are everything.
Nat, on the other hand, knows all too well what it’s like to be surrounded by ugliness. Her childhood was a mess of shouting matches and slammed doors. She’s sharp, sarcastic, and more fragile than she lets on.
With no big vacation plans or social calendars, Natalie spends her days smoking, cleaning swimming pools, and trying not to think too much about the future she doesn’t believe she has. Lottie stays in town, left alone once again.
Over shared cigarettes, late-night drives, and comfort afternoons that feel like forever, they accidentally fall into something that feels too big, too beautiful, and far too temporary.

Summary
“We were talking about Crushgers,” Nat hissed, pinching Van’s arm subtly so she would shut the fuck up.
“What’s that?” asked Lottie, looking between the two of them.
“The confessions page on Facebook,” Nat explained quickly. “People send in shit about their campus crushes mostly, hence Crushgers, but they also use it to vent or talk shit. It’s dumb.”
“It’s vapid,” said Shauna.
“It’s entertaining!” said Jackie.
And, hey. It might be dumb. It might be vapid. It might be entertaining.
But it might also be life-changing.
