Summary
Mercenaries shouldn't get attached—that's the unwritten rule. It's been nearly three years since Shez lost everything to the Ashen Demon, and now she finds herself in the midst of all out war—and out of her depth. Meanwhile, Byleth’s resolve to not live up to her grim reputation is put to the test.
A pretty loose adaptation of the Scarlet Blaze route, followed by the conclusion and aftermath of the war, split between Shez's and Byleth's perspectives with additional character perspectives between each chapter. Has absolutely outgrown its title, but I went and got attached to it.
Lots of perhaps weird headcanon about dark magic, Zahras, slithery people, Shez's backstory and mom, relics, etc etc.
Complete through the events of Scarlet Blaze as of Chapter 28.

Summary

For as long as CreekClan have existed, they have been at war. Young apprentice Pinepaw knows this, despite the doubts that plague her thoughts. Summary
Armand removes his hands, scrambling in front of Louis and smiling up at him with the most pleased look. When Louis says nothing, Armand gestures to the horizon. “Your gift!”
“Which part is the gift? This is a pasture.”
A cow pasture, to be more specific. Before him is a long stretch of grass littered with animals. One even moos, and Louis cringes uncomfortably.
“For someone so smart, you really can be a fool.” Armand sighs. Before Louis can retort in defense of himself, Armand leans down and pulls a handful of half-grown grass from the earth. He holds it out toward Louis, large eyes round and imploring. As if this explains anything.
Bewildered, Louis just stares at the handful of weeds. “What-”
“Eat it.” Armand clenches his fist, shakes the grass in emphasis.
Armand tries to come up with a nice gift to win back Louis' affection.
