If Daemon had been there when Sir Arryk had pretended to be Sir Erryk and tried to kill Rhaenyra.
The least he could have done was come up with a better lie, Daemon thought to himself. And were the rest of the guards so inept, to be fooled by a twin they knew to be so aware of?
But he hadn’t caught it quickly enough, and now he was between him and her. He would have to act cautiously. But then again, that wasn’t something that he did.
“Come now, Arryk,” he says, sounding equal parts bored and annoyed. “You haven’t yet told us there is a traitor already in our midst.”“Quite cowardly, isn’t it,” Daemon says. “To come here, to slay in sleep.”
“Not as cowardly as slaying a child at his mother’s breast!” Daemon sighs.

“Allow you to visit?” And a part of Lestat dies inside. Was his suggesting that or assuming that or hoping for that so ridiculous? That they would see each other again? Was this just a one time thing? Was this just what closure looked like to him?“My apologies,” he says with a strained smile. “I thought that we might want to keep in touch, going forward. Or, not that- he had never been the one to first go for hugs anyway, but- it was like she couldn’t hug HIM anymore and he couldn’t WANT her to hug him. And it killed him. He hated it. Because he was loyal to a fucking fault, and he would never… but friends shouldn’t feel weird about hugging friends after they start a something-ship with their other friend, right? Right? He felt like he was going crazy.
