Summary
After the accident, Charles only has one goal: get back in the car and restore Ferrari’s glory. Everything else—feelings, people, and especially vacations—is just a distraction. So when Fred ships him off to a remote island for some “mandatory relaxation time,” Charles is ready to hate every second of it.
Especially when he meets him.
With ocean-blue eyes, a laugh that lingers, and a smirk that gets on every last one of his nerves, Charles’ local guide is a walking complication. He’s sunshine, infuriatingly persistent, and far too easy on the eyes.
Charles came to the island to heal his body, not lose focus. But sometimes, the road to recovery leads you somewhere you don't expect.
Or, Max is a sex worker and thinks his stuck up guest needs to learn to relax.

Summary
“I think we both know the reason I’m here, baby.”
Charles can’t help but smirk. Of course he could piece together why Max is here. “Hey,” he calls nonetheless, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Yeah, of course you don’t, huh?” Max takes another step closer: he sees Max’s pupils dilate even further in real time. “Should I remind you?”
Or,
Charles, biting off more than he can chew, asks to fuck Max.

Summary
“I don’t know,” He finds himself staring at another picture. Max is laughing brightly, to the point where his eyes are crinkled, and his mother is smiling too. There is a navy cap on her head: it is a Red Bull cap. Max’s Red Bull cap. “It’s just hard to imagine, I think.”
Pascale looks at him. For a moment it is an odd look. But that quickly melts into a smile. One that is gentle around the eyes, and soft on the mouth. Somehow, it makes Charles feel young again — younger than how he already feels; twenty-one in a world where he is twenty-five.
“You don’t have to imagine it, mon garçon,” she says quietly. “It has already happened.”
Or,
The last thing Charles remembers is the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix.

Summary
Of course he needs him.
Charles needs Max Verstappen like he has always needed Max Verstappen, like he will always need Max Verstappen. Charles needs Max like the air he breaths, like the water he drinks, like the gravity that steadies his feet. There is no Charles without Max, and no Max without Charles. Planet Earth only survived sixteen days of Max without bringing Charles into the world too. Planet Earth is so much stronger than him.
A thin red string tied around the foot of a chubby blonde baby boy laying in a crib in Hasselt, running across rivers and valleys and fields, through Belgium and Luxembourg and the freezing cold Alps, knotting and twisting until it found itself looped around the ankle of a squalling, red faced baby boy in Princess Grace Hospital, Monaco.
And then little Charles had looked at him across a wet karting circuit and that string had knotted tight, but he hadn’t understood the feeling at the time. Fate screaming at him that there, right there, that is your soulmate, and you will love him until the day that you die.
You have to. You have no choice.
