Summary
Cristiano has told Ricardo before that he had a serious heart problem when he was young, but he had said it casually, breezily, and then explained how he had surgery when he was fifteen and it was all okay after that.
Ricardo himself had suffered an enormous ordeal when he was eighteen and thought that he would never walk again, but the panic he felt then is nothing compared to what he feels now, as he watches Cristiano go down after a tackle, convulse for a second, before suddenly going limp, limbs falling lax, head lolling listlessly to the side.
