now, sitting here with just taehyung, the outside dark and the inside under a hue of fluorescent lighting, it’s almost like they’re in some coming-of-age indie movie. it’s the kind of dark that feels like it could come alive at any moment; makes him want to do something reckless, like lean over and kiss taehyung. which is what he does.
“i have,” taehyung says when they pull away. there’s a little chocolate syrup on his bottom lip that he swipes away with the back of his hoodie sleeve.
“what’s it like?”
jimin scoops up more of the dessert while he waits. taehyung doesn’t answer for a while. the only thing he can hear is the sound of his own chewing. he’s about to ask what’s wrong, if he said something he shouldn’t have, when taehyung let’s out a sigh.
“when it feels like, in that moment, something’s changed? like you’re so much bigger than your skin and bones - bigger than all the things you’re worried about, bigger than the world - and like if you breathed any deeper you’d inhale the sky? that’s what seeing the northern lights is like.”
(jimin goes to alaska to see the northern lights. thinks it might change something inside of him. instead, he meets a strange busboy and a dog.)
