He notices it, and his entire body goes cold, breath catching in his throat in some instinctive, animal need to freeze, where the next shaky exhale he forces sounds far, far too loud to his ears.
There is nothing there, of course. There isn’t. He’s drowsy and disorientated and it’s the middle of the night and there’s no one sitting on the end of his bed because why would there be?
But he can feel it. He can feel the weight, the way the bed dips right next to him.
