Summary
The first day back after and long-needed break was always the worst. Your muscles are cramped after not being as active, and you're tired from waking up at the asscrack of dawn instead of noon, and you're in the freezing rain.
Toby kept telling himself that it wasn't all bad, at least he wasn't miserable, he thought, y'know, like a liar. That being said, he was grateful for a relatively easy mission to ease back into things.
He was going to scope out a bunch of college-age students who were filming something in the woods. Apparently being in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night didn't set off alarm bells in their minds. They were too close to a rift to be a coincidence.
It didn't usually mind, but if they had footage of them and they spread proof of the faceless man, it would end badly for those who took "refuge" in the veil.
It had wanted, forced really, Toby to profile them and figure out what they were going to use the footage for. If they knew too much, they'd have to die. Simple.
Boy was he wrong.
