Summary
Fire at Will is the natural endpoint of irony left unchecked, a project that began as a single joke and metastasized into a novel of alarming technical precision. Evil Captain Kirk, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Gerard Way converge in a cosmos where desire, violence, and identity collapse into each other with operatic excess. To call it a shitpost is inaccurate; to call it literature is perhaps irresponsible. It is also, against all odds, my first attempt at writing anything longer than a term paper—an unyielding undertaking written almost entirely in the Notes app on my phone. God has cursed me for my hubris, for in birthing this text I have inexorably chained myself to it, and I must bare the chains of my sin until the day I inevitably parish.
