As the conversation washes over him, Lan Zhan's attention is drawn to where Wei Ying sits in his corner. Over and over, Lan Zhan looks and then looks away, catching glimpses of Wei Ying’s high cheekbones shining in the dim light of the porch, the movement of his Adam’s apple as he sips his beer, the fall of his hair as he throws his head back to laugh. These moments feel pilfered—he won’t let himself watch for more than a second at a time, and it feels like a monumental act of self-denial. Condensation trickles down the side of his seltzer can and between his fingers, wetting his palm. He wipes his hand on his shorts, and when he looks up again, he catches Wei Ying watching him.

Yibo waited as the initial fervor died down, then stepped forward, because he was nothing if not professional, and part of his job was to interact with and assist the talent. Clutching his clipboard to his chest, he adjusted his headset and joined the fray. He knew he would have to sooner or later, and he might as well start off on the right foot. Elbowing his way only slightly to the front, he looked up and nearly swallowed his tongue.
Okay, so maybe Wenhan had been onto something there.
OR, against his will, drama PA Yibo ends up falling for the star. Dammit.
