Lan Zhan’s new liaison at the Caiyi Municipal Cultivation Department is an enigma – ridiculously talented, yet somehow content with mopping up spiritual pests for barely above minimum wage. As the conversation washes over him, Lan Zhan's attention is drawn to where Wei Ying sits in his corner. Over and over, Lan Zhan looks and then looks away, catching glimpses of Wei Ying’s high cheekbones shining in the dim light of the porch, the movement of his Adam’s apple as he sips his beer, the fall of his hair as he throws his head back to laugh. These moments feel pilfered—he won’t let himself watch for more than a second at a time, and it feels like a monumental act of self-denial. Condensation trickles down the side of his seltzer can and between his fingers, wetting his palm. He wipes his hand on his shorts, and when he looks up again, he catches Wei Ying watching him.

Yibo waited as the initial fervor died down, then stepped forward, because he was nothing if not professional, and part of his job was to interact with and assist the talent. Clutching his clipboard to his chest, he adjusted his headset and joined the fray. He knew he would have to sooner or later, and he might as well start off on the right foot. Elbowing his way only slightly to the front, he looked up and nearly swallowed his tongue.
Okay, so maybe Wenhan had been onto something there.
OR, against his will, drama PA Yibo ends up falling for the star. Dammit.

Yibo’s face softened as he recalled the days when they could still go out on a normal date together — to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, to see a movie, or even to just take a walk without an entourage, without all the elaborate decoys and deceptions to throw off pursuing fans. Long-ago memories replayed in his mind: Xiao Zhan laughing in his ear as they rode off on Yibo’s motorcycle to nowhere special; Xiao Zhan reclining in the grass; Xiao Zhan kissing him outside under a full moon. His throat tightened, and a deep feeling of loss overwhelmed him.

Summary
Wei Ying is a single dad. Tired of trying to make ends meet and desperate to give his kid a better life, he has the brilliant idea of signing up for Grad School. Except he can't quit his day job, because he needs to eat and feed his kid, so he piles on the Grad School on top of all his work and dad responsibilities.
Just when he thinks he has absolutely no more room in his life for anything else, he meets Lan Zhan, who pushes his way in before Wei Ying even knows what has happened.
Before Wei Ying understands exactly what is happening though, tragedy strikes and Lan Zhan is gone from his life as quickly as he fell into it.
They say its better to have loved and lost, than never at all, but Wei Ying isn't too sure that whoever came up with that saying is actually sane.
He can't figure out what hurts the most... thinking about his life before Lan Zhan, or looking forward into the future without him.
