Summary
Narita Brian, hunter and protector of the village, is sent out into the forest to track down a wounded deer as the sudden onset of winter makes predators desperate for a meal. The idea is to grant the deer a merciful death before it accidentally brings wolves or bears closer to the village and puts their livestock at risk. Unfortunately, a pack of wolves have already found the deer, and its monsterous protector, a beast of myth of legend that strikes fear into the hearts of every uma, the most dangerous creature Brian could comes across: a horse.
And there's a lot more to the creature than meets the eye.

The gold standard of horsefem, as befits the overlord. Joie de Vivre is a very, very messy protagonist and Tigerbrows is not afraid to put her through the ringer. The cast is a blend of wonderful interpretations of the canon umas that both feel straight out of the game but also uniquely at home in this story, and fleshed out OCs that deserve their own stories. I particularly love how Joie's amnesia recontextualizes everything that came before with each new chapter (I must have reread the whole thing like a dozen times by now lol). If you're going to read one story about a 'male' trainer getting turned into an umamusume, make it this one.
