Summary
“I was just trying to make sure our new friend here is settling in well.” She smiles and scoops a dollop of whipped cream into her mouth with her tongue. Any extra left around her lip was licked up, and a smirk plays on her lips when she notices that he’s frozen, eyes following the motions of her tongue as she playfully cleans up her mouth.
The other two make puking sounds from beside them, as Karen and Gretchen approach them.
“Regina? What are you… doing?”
She turns her head towards them, “Just making sure our friend here is okay.” She places a manicured hand on his thigh, a little too high to be friendly but too low to be taken as anything else, and flashes a smile at him. There it is, the usual fear.
“If I could give you some advice though,” she leans in, with hooded eyes and close enough that she’s sure he’s getting assaulted by her perfume, “Find better friends. You don’t want your senior year to be social suicide.”
He scoffs, and leans away, “What, friends like yours? I prefer people who are honest to me at least.”

Summary
If she hadn’t come on that stupid field trip with her school, they wouldn’t have met. She would have never known about Ogerpon, nor of him, and he could have kept his stories and beliefs to himself and maybe one day he would’ve been strong enough to have Ogerpon accept him.
If she hadn’t come on that stupid field trip, he wouldn’t have known she existed and he could’ve lived the rest of his life not knowing how badly it hurt to have been betrayed by someone you thought was unapologetically open and honest; he wouldn’t have known how it felt to have someone call him a friend without regrets.

Summary
She still brings out all the sugar packets in the drawer for him, both white and brown, and places it next to his cup. He somehow starts going on about the history of sugar, and talks so much about how sugar was rationed in World War One that Clara’s convinced he lived through it, as he pours so much sugar into his drink that it starts to spill out onto his saucer.
Somehow she doesn’t feel the need to stop him, just accepts that she’s being pulled into his ocean and rides his wave of information.
Somehow, she finds that she doesn’t mind, especially when he waves his arms around and how his eyebrows look like they’re on a rollercoaster ride with every word.

Her head snaps back to the front, gulping down a fourth of her water and awkwardly shuffling her eyes around. She knew she shouldn’t have been staring, and she berates herself for getting caught, but oh my God, he’s gorgeous, who is he?
“So, uh,” she looks down into the water in her bottle, fingers nervously drumming against the plastic, “A-are you like, a senior? Or like…”
He chuckles, and she tries to sneak a quick glance at him, and sees him turned towards her slightly with a light smile, and she feels a blush start spread from her ears.
“No, I’m like… Sherry’s brother.”

“I’m fine,” her fingers flex around the glass in her hand, and her brows furrow cause she knows that’s not true, and her friends can see it in her face bright as day that she’s thinking of more than fine, but nobody comments on it, “I don’t need a guy.”
Her friends look between each other, before one of them says, “Have you… seen him at all? Recently?”
She doesn’t have to to know he’s doing alright, that he probably still hasn’t relaxed that furrow between his brows in his everyday expression; that his voice still comes from deep within his chest and that it’ll still send rumbles through her body when she’s too close; and that he’ll do anything to protect… his client- anything to complete his mission.
She knows he’s safe and doing perfect, in whichever part of the world he’s in, and she doesn’t need to see him again to know he’s the same as he ever was.
