Buck sighed and closed his eyes shut when he saw the thermometer he was holding read 102°F.
His head felt like it was about to explode and he tried to stay still under the stack of blankets Buck had on top of him, trying to think what would he do. The sensible thing would be to call Bobby and say he is sick, but.
But.
Chim was finally back home with Maddie and Jee and still on leave and Eddie was going to spend his free day with Chris after the kid insisted that they buy new ornaments for Christmas since it had to be perfect.
He couldn't call in sick for that shift, so he reluctantly got up and got started with his day, with the memories of some important moments in his relationship with Eddie helping him to get through it.

Buck is sick, but goes to work anyway and insists he is okay. Hen thinks she needs to call in some reinforcements.

Everyone seemed to follow their Captain's lead, just speaking to him when it was absolutely necessary.
Everyone except for Chimney and Hen, but Buck had never felt so lonely before.He couldn't bring himself to tell anyone about what was happening.

Eddie's words were always present on his mind every time his leg ached, every time he was insulted by someone on his shift, every time Bobby told him "My house, my rules."
Until one day, he arrived at Maddie's house and found two other men with her.
They had come all the way from Hawaii just to check on him.

He hit the ground roughly.
It took some seconds for Buck to realize it was not a bomb and he was not under the truck.
It took some more seconds to realize it was a shot and the person in from of him was the one receiving the hit.
Then he recognized who it was.
"Eddie."
