Summary
Riri bites her lower lip and exhales shakily, “Why did you send me the papers without signing them?”
“Because I wanted the choice to be yours.” it is honest in the way that only Shuri can be but Riri ignores it in favor of her simmering rage.
“Bullshit!” she fights back the tears, “You had them drawn and sent to me, now tell me the real reason goddammit!”
It takes a long moment, one where Riri suspects that she is never going to get her answer in the first place, but then –
“I couldn’t do it.” Shuri says at last, chest heavy with the weight of the admission, “I sent them to you because I wanted you to do the first move.”
“So if I signed them–”
“I would’ve signed them too.” she says with no hesitation.
Riri shakes her head like she’s trying to get rid of a bad thought, crosses her arms and looks at Shuri bewildered, “Why did you even– I mean divorce? What were you thinking?”
