Summary
After being randomly scouted for a commercial fishing position by Ahab, a madwoman of a captain who swears she saw her in a dream, Ishmael is suspicious. However, once she learns more about it, she decides to take her up on her offer. She desperately needs a job, any job — and it helps that this particular job will get her closer to Queequeg, a beautiful girl whom she met by chance during an insomnia episode.
Queequeg is an interesting person, someone who stands out on an island where so many people try to be the same, and Ishmael wanted to fall headfirst into her world. However, as she discovers more about Ahab's motivations, she wonders if she's in for more than she bargained for.

Eclair had gone beyond living life on the edge. What she was doing now was more like... balancing life on the blade of a knife, sharp enough to slice everything she'd salvaged to ribbons. She'd gotten a job at her local liquor store to chase the owner's nephew, Marikin, who only knew she existed because she was always willing to cover his shifts. She lives paycheck to paycheck, barely making enough money for both rent and her drug habit. And Eclair can't get enough of it.
But something needs to change. And on one of her routine trips to the pawn shop one morning, Eclair meets a girl.
