Camp El Mayarah
Summer, 1989The low hiss of static crackled from the tape deck and curled around Kara like the trilling hum of the cicadas outside the cabin windows. Her finger hovered over the record button and she held her breath.
Three, two, one…
Click. Warm electric synth filled her headphones, ethereal and indelible.
This was it.
It had to be perfect.No more stolen glances across the campfire, no more what if’s. Kara was finally going to tell Lena how she felt, consequences be damned.
It had been countless summers of quiet yearning. Countless letters exchanged, creases at the edges and rumpled from folding and unfolding, each one a thread pulling tighter around her heart. Countless sleepless nights spent staring at the ceiling trying to untangle the ache in her chest. She’d denied it. She’d fought it. She’d tried to name it something else.
But the truth was something she could feel deeper than anything she had ever known.
She was hopelessly, irrevocably, head over heels in love with her best friend.

Specifically stems from the scene in which House tells Cameron she misses him and she disagrees, and the statement that he’d fire Thirteen or Kutner to get her back.
Important note: I misunderstood the start of S4 and thought Cameron and Chase were engaged so I guess we run with it??Very loosely themed after Hozier’s It Will Come Back, the current title may be changed!
