Summary
When Romana was on an adventure with The Doctor, the two Timelords entered a Charged Vacuum Emboitement which took the TARDIS from N-space into E-space. After many adventures in this universe K9 was damaged by time winds which left him unable to return to N-space. When The Doctor and Adric went back to N-space Romana chose to remain with K9. When she was 487 years old, K9 had been fixed and had figured out the calculations for entering and leaving E-Space at will. Using these calculations Romana returns to N-Space and to Gallifrey and she soon becomes Lady President.
That was the original timeline, this is not that timeline. Paradoxes are a curious thing, the Time-Lord Romana spent a long period of her childhood studying them. During her travels with The Doctor her life became one big paradox. Using this logic it was no surprise that her children were paradoxes. Convincing your mother to arrive on Gallifrey a little bit earlier than she was supposed to really isn't that hard when it is causes your existence. Romana may care for the laws of time but she cares for her children more. This universe is the result of one paradox and this paradox changes everything and everyone. It makes quite a few extra people too.
