Summary
In the first week of classes at Brown University, Seok Matthew, a computer science major, finds herself comfortable with all her classes and her friends. She thinks that this year will be it. She will find love like her favorite romance book of all time, Better than the Movies by Lynn Painter, and perhaps this year, her crush, who so happened to be from the same town as her, will finally ask her out. She was even happy with the fact that she had a single dorm with no roommate of her own.
But life doesn't turn out the way you expect it to be.
The next day, her rival from high school.. Park Gunwook comes knocking at the door.

“Ow!” A voice pipes up from under the lily pad. Gunwook narrows his eyes in suspicion, and he keeps chucking wood chips at the seemingly sentient floating leaf. “Fuck! Shit! Ow—can you please stop doing that?”
The lily pad slips off the hidden offender, and Gunwook sees the briefest flick of a large tail disappear beneath the water. His jaw drops.
“You’re—” A mermaid, is what Gunwook means to say, but what comes out instead is “—very vulgar.”
Gunwook gets lost at sea in the midst of doing his research. Matthew helps him find his way home.
