Summary
When he’d initially made the call, Seungcheol hadn’t thought about the last time he’d heard Jihoon sing. It was somewhat of a rarity — he kept his voice soft and low — humming out tunes in their shared bathroom as he showered, or in demos of lyrics he’d written played at a low volume in their old studio. Sometimes it would just echo through the walls of a hotel, or filter into Seungcheol’s room when they’d lived together in those first fitful months after Jihoon joined the band.
He hadn’t considered that Jihoon’s voice would wring him inside out like he’s an old dishcloth. How his lips around lyrics Seungcheol wrote when he was a teenager would still be able to make his chest ache in some deep, buried way.
Seungcheol's spent the best part of a year pretending Jihoon doesn't exist. That it doesn't hurt to be in the same room as him. It does, of course. It always has.
