    Summary

Katsuki listens closer. And then notices the small inflections in his voice, how out of breath he sounds. Ragged, panting for air. Likes he’s decidedly run a marathon in his own fucking house. He wasn’t speaking quietly out of courtesy, but he was afraid to speak any louder. And then he realizes,

    Somethings wrong.

He hurries out of his bed, already heading towards the front door.

“Izuku, what’s going on? Are you alright?”

    ...

Katsuki can almost hear the immediate regret that fills Izuku’s voice when he speaks up,

“Oh God, I'm so sorry!! Nothing's wrong, Kacchan I- ” then a beat “Okay fine, I was being an idiot. I had this stupid nightmare where you died again and I just called to make sure you’re okay. I’m so incredibly sorry for worrying you like that I don’t know why I did that, you think I'd be over this by now, it won’t happen again I swear- “

    Katsuki stills.

    “I’m coming over.”

    Summary

He hadn’t thought about it in years. Or at least he’d told himself he hadn’t. It was easier that way, pretending Izuku didn’t exist; that Katsuki hadn’t done what he’d done. But now? Now he was back. Back in the same town, the same school, the same class. Right in front of him, mere feet away, was the object of all those fucking feelings he didn’t want to feel. The source of his problems, his hatred, his anger, his regret, sorrow, self-doubt, insecurity—everything he didn’t know how to feel, was back and Katsuki couldn’t escape any of it now.

    Summary

After the war, U.A. reopens its doors, but nothing feels the same. The dorm halls are quiet, the air heavy with memories, and Class 1-A is left to pick up the pieces of everything they’ve lost.

Izuku returns with a trembling sense of fear—haunted by the memory of nearly losing One for All, terrified it might slip away for good. Katsuki returns with scars and nightmares he can’t outrun, reliving the moment he died with Izuku’s voice echoing in his head.

    They both pretend they’re fine.
    They’re not.

It starts with small things: Katsuki knocking on Izuku’s door after a nightmare, Izuku sitting on Katsuki’s bed because it feels safe, shared meals, shared clothes, shared silence. Soon, they’re practically living in each other’s rooms without meaning to. Morning routines blend. Study sessions turn into naps. Comfort-touch becomes second nature.

    Summary

“Eh. Screw it. Might as well cook dinner while I’m at it.”

Izuku perked up instantly, eyes shining. “Dinner? You’ll cook for me?”

“It’s not for you,” Katsuki snapped, stomping toward the kitchen like a soldier marching into battle. “I was gonna eat anyway.”

Izuku trailed after him like a shadow, practically bouncing on the balls of his feet. “Can I help?”

“No.” Katsuki yanked open the fridge, scanning the shelves with critical eyes. “Last time you ‘helped,’ I had to scrape rice off the ceiling.”

“That was one time!” Izuku yelped indignantly. “And the pot was faulty!”

“It wasn’t the pot, you moron.” Katsuki grabbed a carton of eggs, shutting the fridge with his hip. “You looked away while it was boiling!”

Izuku grinned despite himself, leaning against the counter again, perfectly at home, tea mug in hand. He watched Katsuki set the pan on the stove, movements precise and practiced, spatula already in hand like he’d been born with it.

“You’re really domestic, you know that?” Izuku teased, eyes crinkling at the corners.
    --------------

Or Katsuki's tired from his god knows how long patrol, and trust Izuku to always make his day brighter.
