“Then, what is it you offer?”
The barkeep slid the requested wine up beside Astarion, and the pale stranger’s knowing smile returned. He leaned forward, closer now. When he reached past Astarion to fetch the glass, Astarion caught the otherworldly scent of his skin: earthy and herbal, but blue and scorched like the astral zephyr, as though what he had said about the planes was true. As the elf straightened, he paused for a moment, lingering at Astarion’s ear. He uttered a simple word: “Pleasure.”
Ten years after the defeat of the Absolute, Astarion haunts the streets of the Sword Coast like a ghost, alone, searching desperately for a cure to his undeath. While following the trail of a shadowy rumor, he meets a dark and mysterious man who reminds him of himself. Summary
Fingers brush gently through his curls. “Easy, pet. You’re going to enjoy this.”
“Am I? You’re confident, aren’t you?” The flippant tone just slips out, easy as breathing. Astarion bites his lip, annoyed with himself and his smart mouth. It always gets him into trouble. Though sometimes the trouble is fun.
Raphael doesn’t seem to mind. His smile broadens, showing his teeth. “Hmmm, I like a bit of fight. You’re going to be fun. And you’re going to behave.” It’s not a question.
Astarion lets his eyes drop from Raphael’s dark gaze after a long moment. He nods. “Yes, Master.”
Down to his last resort, Astarion applies for a position as a submissive in Raphael’s House of Hope.

Summary
It’s bad enough that he is habitually humiliated in the courtroom by the clear favoritism the magistrates of Baldur’s Gate extend to Saer Ancunín. His skill in defense is generally good, sometimes very good, but Cazador is also deft in argumentation and the law. It’s obvious favoritism at this point, given just how often Cazador loses to the fool.
How everyone just adores Saer Ancunín.
